But, if I were to cultivate such an image, wouldn't it end up being very difficult to actually say anything serious? It sounds as though to take such a step I would have to go into humor professsionally and, as you say, get my own show. I don't think I'm ready for that sort of thing.

Gee...suddenly suddenly being funny sounds like it could have some unpleasant side effects.
