There was a thin layer on the car, but I didn't have time to wash it off before we went to Nashville. On the way down, a trailer truck in front of us blew a fuel line and sprayed us with diesel fuel. I had enough solvent in the windshield washer to clean the windshield so I just kept going. Then we hit construction. White limestone dust was everywhere and it stuck to the diesel fuel, then we hit a stretch of fresh tar. In Nashville I parked under a willow tree that was still shedding a few leaves and they got into the air intake below the windshield and some stuck for a while in the goo on the trunk lid. On the way home we hit a brief shower which left thin streaks in the grime and splashed road film on the sides of the car. Right before we got back to our street a flock of starlings took off from a field and flew over the road just as we passed. They bombed us good. The windshield took several heavy hits. As soon as I parked on the carport, the neighbor's dog came over and marked our tires. Thank goodness we don't have bugs this time of year. |
