Why is it we can't say what we mean?
Why can't we just SAY that Ned is dead?
Why do we say that Ned kicked the bucket?
Or Ned cashed in his chips.
Or he went west.
Bought the farm.
Got his ticket punched.
Croaked.
Played his last card.
Is pushing up daisies.
Checked out.

How many ways can you say that Ned is drunk?
Or that he has run out of money?
etc.
