It's supposed to protect you, but it can make you very sick. One time in Florida, a Jacuzzi turned my bathing suit from dark blue to bright purple. Breathing those fumes may have turned my lungs purple as well. > > Howard > > last year on a ski retreat with my youth group, a jacuzzi tried to kill me.... i had been skiing all day, then was lying on my bed being exhausted, one of my friends dragged me to the jacuzzi, stayed in too long and got really really dizzy, i thought i was going to pass out... i ended up sitting on the floor of a hall with people clustered around me, one of my friends (who happens to have hemophilia) walked by and tyold me i should stick my legs in the air, we didn't believe him, he went and got the nurse, who told us the same thing. my blood was pooling in my legs, and to fix it i had to lie on the floor with my legs in the air. the photographer got a good picture out of it. > > uni"and that is a long odd story"peg
Believe it or not, that's quite common, or at least more common than jacuzzi salesmen would like you to think. It's a combination of the heat and dehydration, plus if you were already exhausted it wouldn't have helped. Just one reason why you shouldn't sit in jacuzzis or sauna rooms for hours all by yourself; imagine if you'd fainted *in* the jacuzzi with nobody else around. There are other reasons, too, but they have to do with entertainment rather than safety :-) Head lower than your legs is the standard thing to do if someone faints or is about to.
