Reminds me of when my Dad was in the military. Occasionally someone would begin a sentence with, "Meaning no disrespect, sir...." My Dad would cut him off right there, because that would be a sure sign that what he was about to say was disrespectful.

It's very strange how people think they can disclaim things like that.

I know the "only want to talk about me" syndrome, too. Quite frustrating.
