When I was a kid we had a Monopoly set which had its own unique characteristics. It was very old, I think from about the 1950s or something, with little wooden houses and hotels. It was in a purple cardboard box and the whole thing smelled awful.
We used to play it the Calvin & Hobbes way, ie robbing the bank, taking over hotels, staging jailbreaks, and basically degenerating into screaming pandemonium. It was too boring playing it the normal way.
