Granny's Garden - I can't get through the castle.

I can't get through the castle in Granny's Garden. I've given the king the crown but whenever I go back to his room he throws me out of the castle. Supposedly there are other things in the castle, but all I can find are empty rooms and the king.

I think I might have made the game unwinnable, but that's not like Sam to do that. There must be a way to get past the king.
