It's kind of like a maze. There is a sequence of moves that gets you out of the fight, and if you diverge from that sequence, you get routed back to or toward the beginning of the sequence. So basically you have to discover, by trial and error, the sequence of moves that works, one move at a time. It's not as hard as I'm probably making it sound.
