Have you visited the wagon just west of the saloon? There are at least four things you need to find there. Don't leave until you have four new items in your inventory. Have you played the piano at the saloon? You also have missed a few things back home. Have you attended the service at the church? You also missed something important in the area where you found the cabbage. I hope that helps a little.
