Those of you more attached to the LotR movies than I have probably already heard about this, but apparently New Line Cinema gave The Hobbit a go.

They're also giving it a sequel. As imagined and written by Peter Jackson.

I admire the man's talent and all, but I already have issues with his *adaptations* of Tolkien's writing -- writing his *own* story linking The Hobbit with LotR based on Tolkien's appendices doesn't sound like a winning idea to me at all.
