Go back to the farmhouse and check the garage. Check the hut near the soothsayer. Try all options. Once you get something from the hut you should be able to figure out what to do with it. There is a friend up by the volcano that will give you something if you do right by him. Have you done something with the story teller yet? You have a ways to go before you can enter the tower.
