Sometimes I crave Pepsi from a 10 ounce bottle, sometimes Coke from a can, most often, lately, whichever drink from a fountain -- and the type of cup (paper or styrofoam) matters, too. I definitely miss the days of soda in a tall, 12 oz. bottle.

I remember it vividly because the 16 oz. hit the spot just right, but sometimes a 12 oz can just leaves you wanting a little bit more, not a whole can more, but a little more. Even though the plastic bottles are 20 oz, the taste just isn't nearly the same as the glass.

But you're right, because I also remember them being one pint, and 16 oz. = a pint. Were those bigger ones (you had to pour it in a glass because they were almost too heavy to lift to your mouth) actually 32 oz.?

I don't know how much larger the mouth was; it did have a twist-off, reusable cap, as opposed to pop-off. I think this was before we'd heard of litres on this side of the pond, but it could have been the beginnings of metric stirrings.

Mou"you mean, you had MEAT?"sie
