My all-time favorite Calvin & Hobbes strip is one where, in the first frame, Calvin has a bat and a ball. "I am not afraid of this ball," he proclaims. He proceeds to toss the ball in the air, grasping the bat in both hands and perching it over his shoulder in preparation to whack the living daylights out of that ball when it comes back into range. The final frame shows Calvin running, screaming, away from a downcoming ball with FANGS! I knew there was a reason I can't field a ball to save my life.
