I haven't thought of counting the number of pools on Level 10, but a rough estimate gives me at least 12 pools. There are a few that are tricky to get to, and I didn't discover the secret the first time through.
Tunneling, or perhaps you mean teleportation, isn't very effective on Level 10. If you try a telportation spell, you'll just get sent back to the stairs.
The best advice to give you is to stand on *every* square. And you might *very much* want to have a location spell going when you do this.
