POA: ...What now?

I seem to be stuck unable to do much of anything. I can't go anywhere in the mines, I can't find any rubber tubes (except for the one that was in the supply room), I don't know what to do with the nickel, Sawyer won't let me operate the safe even though I'm pretty sure I know the number, and I can't find Burton of "Burton, Carson, and Harris." I can't find the cat, either, although I figured if I were doing anything productive it would probably show up. The last time I saw it was with the Burton kid--who apparently needs a "cooler" weapon.

A small nudge in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.
