Never mind that it's 300 years in the future, and we're supposed to still be measuring lengths with approximations of body parts' lengths instead of a universal, simple, logical, expandable system that can measure sub-atomic distances just as well as intergalactic ones, but sometimes the books can't even make up their mind what system to use.

Take it from me. I'm living in the future. All of my life, the 21st century was the future, so look around, this is it, the future is now. And I use English and metric measures* all the time. Today I used metric tools to remove some bolts, and I drove a truck with miles on the speedometer. I bought 12 gallons of gasoline with metric money, and measured a fishing rod with a yard stick. I even had a 12 ounce black cherry soda, and my wife checked my blood pressure, probably using meteric measures.

Maybe, by the time the 21st passes through the present into the past, one or the other will fad away. I hope so, because 22nd century folks may not be as smart as we are.

*Why don't they just call it English and French measures?
