The recipe pertains to the secret area, which is not necessary to beat the game. However, had I not chanced upon it, I wouldn't have had reason to take the unusual step that will next help you get out of school. That book of Mrs. Desai's transported her off school grounds, right? Maybe it could do the same for you. If not, it could lead you to investigate new heights.
