Actually, that's not true. Ganymede is the biggest moon in the solar system, and it's about a third the size of the Earth. It is, however, bigger than both Mercury and Pluto.

There are actually two moons bigger than Mercury (Ganymede and Saturn's moon Titan) and seven that are bigger than Pluto (Ganymede and Titan, plus the Jovian moons Io, Europa, and Callisto, Earth's Moon, and Neptune's moon Triton). And yes, I had to look all that up. But trivia is fun!
