To my understanding, Ceres is the largest asteroid in the belt. Though it's due to get blown up by Space Pirates soon - the Nintendo told me so, and it NEVER lies.

I can only think they meant to say "in orbit around a star" and totally frigged up the terminology. The definition makes exactly zero sense to me any other way.
