Anyway, the trick here is to cause a disturbance in the kitchen and then run around to the banquet hall.

Have you noticed you can wade out into the moat along the side of the castle?

The kitchen window overlooks the moat.

In fact, a section of the battlements is right above that window. You won't be able to climb DOWN without being seen, but the guards won't notice if you leave something hanging there.
