The River (1929)

Reviews and Comments

Frank Borzage's The River survives only in pieces. A reconstruction of it was made in 2006, which stitched the surviving footage together with stills and captions that tell the missing pieces of the story. Even in this form, the film is compelling, thanks to the red hot chemistry between the leads, Charles Farrell and Mary Duncan. But it's easy to see that we're probably missing a lot by not having the complete film.
