The Case of the Curious Bride (1935)

Those familiar with Raymond Burr's Perry Mason from the television series may need some time to get used to this earlier screen incarnation of the Erle Stanley Gardner character. Mason is played here by Warren William, who also played another famous mystery hero, Philo Vance, in other films made around the same time.

The Case of the Curious Bride is a bright sunny spot in the era of series B mysteries popular in the 1930s and 1940s. It has a script that sparkles, a fast pace, and a relentless display of cunning and wit on the part of the hero. Watch for an early appearance by Errol Flynn as a murder victim.
