Molly Ringwald was the queen of eighties teen flicks like Pretty In Pink and this one. Sixteen Candles is one of her best; it's also a fine moment for John Hughes, who put a number of teen flicks under his belt before moving on to such anti-cerebral efforts as Home Alone. The movie is quite funny, thanks to the sharp script, and endearing, thanks to Ringwald's charismatic screen presence.
