Samson (1961)

Reviews and Comments

This corny, meandering, and uninspired sword-and-sandal flick involves the usual political treachery, secretly imprisoned queens, and gladiator-style contests. This film offers nothing that many others, some better, also offer. Note that it has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with the historical character of Samson, but that is typical for these "peplum" films, which freely reuse names of strong men -- Hercules, Goliath, Atlas, and so on -- just for name recognition.
