Though its de facto remake, Fatal Attraction, gained greater notoriety, Clint Eastwood's Play Misty For Me (his first directorial effort) is far more effective a thriller and more psychologically compelling. Eastwood plays a man who has a fling with a woman who seems nice at first, then grows more and more unstable when he tries to break it off. Jessica Walter's performance is a scream.
