Konga (1961)

Reviews and Comments

A rock bottom budget sinks this British King Kong copycat, which might have been an entertaining if formulaic mad-scientist/monster flick. Although the production is overblown, the pacing is even for the first three quarters of the movie, steadily building up to an absurd climax where the beast is foiled by machine guns that miss it. Konga never would have been that great, so it's no huge loss, but it's still upsetting to see a movie done in by a cheap, sell-out final act.
