Fine performances and a strong script make this pre-war tale of a British officer (Ray Milland) making his escape from a German prison with the aid of a gypsy woman (Marlene Dietrich) work well. The stars have a marvelous chemistry on (despite disagreements off) screen. Solid entertainment.
